Happy Holidays~

Happy Holidays everyone!! The holidays never, ever fail to put me in a great mood. Stringing up Christmas lights, hanging glittering ornaments on the tree, baking batches upon batches of holiday-themed sugar cookies...just thinking about it makes me smile.

All the festivities really got my creatives juices going, and I made this card a few weeks ago just in time for the holidays. I gave the card to my English teacher before Winter Break. She actually pulled me aside during class one day to tell me that she loved the card so much that she'd framed it and hung it up in her home! I'm honored...of course I love to scrapbook and make cards just for the fun of it, but it really is amazing when the people whom I give my cards to appreciate them so much.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize until after I gave the card away that the photo I took is a little blurry.

So many hours of stitching went into making this card...

Dad's Birthday!

It's my Dad's birthday today! He won't tell me exactly how old he is but I figured it out anyway. ;)

So to commemorate the occasion, I've decided that my first "real" entry will be a post on the card I made for his birthday. It's a little difficult to see, but I actually did hand-sew the light green "border" surrounding the blue Hawaiian flower print. It definitely took a while, but I don't mind. I like to put time into my cards and make sure each one turns out just how I want it to.

I suppose I should explain the "purr-fect" part...my dad loves cats (as do I)! :)

Welcome to my blog! :)

Hi everyone, my name is Lydia. Welcome to my scrapbook and card blog! This first entry will just be a little introduction about me; I will post my first "real" entry tomorrow and I'll do my best to post at least one entry per month.

A little bit about me...I'm a Californian; I've lived in CA for more than a decade. I was born in New England and I lived there for two years before traveling to China, where I stayed for another two years. Then I moved here! There are so many old pictures of me all bundled up in my winter jacket and playing in the snow, but after having lived in California for so long I'm definitely not familiar with snow anymore. Even so, I hope I'll be able to go back to New England sometime soon and explore that area; even though I'm from California I think I'd actually prefer the weather and the seasons of New England.

I've been a scrapbooker since I was in elementary school. True story: I fell in love with scrapbooking because I found an old scrapbooking catalog in my family's recycling bin, of all places. When I was younger, I used to scrounge around in there all the time for any interesting tidbits I might want to salvage. Over the years, I've grown to prefer making cards to scrapbook pages, but every so often I'll make a scrapbook page, too. :) I really hope that I'll be able to continue cardmaking and scrapbooking well beyond high school.

This picture of my Dad and I was taken back when I still lived in the East Coast; I'm sure the Lincoln Memorial was magnificent but I don't remember it! It's hard to imagine that I was so small once...
